1. Utilizing Empty Overhead Height

When high floor rents limit expansion, building upwards is the most cost-efficient route. A structural mezzanine floor doubles usable square footage by transforming high clearance heights into picking zones, office spaces, or bulk assembly storage.

2. Structural Calculations & Load Capacities

Mezzanines are heavy structures. Before manufacturing, our engineers calculate dead loads (weight of steel beams/decking) and live loads (weight of inventory, shelving, and staff). Standard Qatari ratings are:

• Light Office Duty: 250kg to 350kg per square meter.
• Medium Storage Duty: 500kg to 750kg per square meter (ideal for manual shelving racks).
• Heavy Industrial Duty: 1,000kg to 1,500kg per square meter (for pallet jack operations and machinery).

3. Column Grid Spacing Patterns

Designing the column layout requires balancing structural stability with ground-floor forklift maneuverability. Column grid spacing usually ranges from 3.0m to 6.0m. Larger spans require thicker primary I-beams (Universal Beams) to prevent sagging and ensure stable footing.

4. Safety Gate Options

For moving pallets onto the mezzanine using a forklift, safety gates are mandatory. The two primary designs used in Qatar are:

• Sliding Gates: A manual sliding bar gate. Cost-effective but relies on workers remembering to close it.
• Pivot Safety Gates (Recommended): A balanced pivot mechanism that ensures the edge is always protected by a handrail, even during loading.
